A strategic partnership for acoustic innovation
The Gutin Sino-German Joint R&D Center is located in Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany β a region renowned for its industrial heritage and technological innovation. Our laboratory is housed within the University of Duisburg-Essen's Faculty of Engineering, providing access to world-class research facilities and academic expertise.
Our mission is to advance the science of acoustics and develop innovative audio technologies that enhance the way people experience sound. We bring together researchers, engineers, and industry experts from both Germany and China to collaborate on cutting-edge projects that address real-world audio challenges.
Clear Division of Labor
German Team (Duisburg)
Focuses on fundamental acoustic theory, digital signal processing algorithms, and low-latency audio transmission technology. Conducts long-term research on sound field modeling, environmental noise cancellation, and high-fidelity sound restoration.
Chinese Team (Zhuhai)
Responsible for technology productization, mass production optimization, and scenario-based solution development. Translates cutting-edge research results into reliable, scalable, and user-friendly products for global markets.

Our R&D Team
World-class experts driving audio innovation
Our joint research team brings together over 50 professionals from Germany and China, including 12 PhD holders in acoustics, electronic engineering, and computer science. We collaborate closely with the Institute of Acoustics at the University of Duisburg-Essen to advance the frontiers of audio technology.
German Research Team
Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Weber
Professor of Acoustics at the University of Duisburg-Essen with over 20 years of experience in digital signal processing and sound field simulation. Leads our core algorithm research team and has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers in leading international journals.
Dr. Lukas Schmidt
Specializes in low-latency audio transmission and network audio systems. Has been with the Gutin joint laboratory since its establishment in 2018 and has led the development of our GT-NET network audio technology.
Sebastian MΓΌller
Expert in transducer design and speaker system optimization. Holds multiple patents in loudspeaker technology and has worked with leading European audio brands.
Chinese R&D Team
Tim Hoffmann
Oversees all global R&D activities and leads the Zhuhai research team. Holds a PhD in Acoustic Engineering and has over 15 years of experience in the professional audio industry.
Maximilian Fischer
Responsible for translating German research into commercial products. Has extensive experience in audio system design and has led the development of over 30 Gutin products.
Cross-functional Team: 40+ engineers specializing in hardware design, software development, quality control, and system integration support both our German and Chinese research efforts.
Collaborative Culture
We maintain an open and collaborative research culture with regular exchanges between our German and Chinese teams. Our engineers frequently visit the Duisburg laboratory for joint research projects, and German scientists regularly provide on-site technical guidance at our Zhuhai manufacturing facility. This seamless collaboration ensures that the latest German engineering expertise is integrated into every Gutin product.
